OUR STORY

Founded on Experience, Built for Comfort

York Home Performance was started by two friends, Noah Glatfelter and Robert Silverman, who met at Pennsylvania State University. There, they developed a successful painting service during the summer that used active marketing to reach their customers. Upon graduation, the two decided to launch their home performance business with the goal of improving the comfort of homeowners in the North Central MD and Southern PA areas.

The Personal Touch Starts with a Conversation

Robert and Noah knew they had something going with their candid approach to helping homeowners understand their homes, diagnosing problems and improving comfort. They approached their new enterprise with the goal of providing the best possible service and improving as many Westminster and Essex, MD area homes as possible.

Their trained marketing team started reaching out to homeowners the old-fashioned way—walking through neighborhoods and going door-to-door to reach homeowners. This personal approach helped the business grow and provided valuable home performance information to a much wider group of homeowners.

Professional Approach to Home Performance

Noah and Robert understood the importance of professional training and certification, as well as working with local utilities to provide needed upgrades and services to their customer base. As a result, they’ve focused on providing top training to everyone on the York Home Performance team to ensure safe and thorough services  for each homeowner.

All home energy auditors and workers have completed rigorous national certifications and state training to ensure the highest professional standards. We partner with Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE HPwES) and FirstEnergy Utilities to perform contracting work that qualifies for their Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® programs. We also provide services for PPL Electric WRAP.

Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification badge

Building Performance Institute (BPI)

The Building Performance Institute is the nation’s top credentialing, quality assurance and standard-setting organization. BPI training and certification involve rigorous written and hands-on training to ensure the best training for home performance available. BPI offers several concentrations of expertise:

  • Building Analyst— Each York Home Performance home auditor is certified as a building analyst. The designation certifies that each auditor can perform comprehensive, whole-home energy audits using the latest technology and scientific analysis. Our Building Analysts then identify home performance problems at their source. With this data in hand, we are then able to prescribe and prioritize solutions based on building science for your unique home.

  • Envelope Analyst— York Home Performance also has two certified Envelope Analysts on our team. This specialization focuses on the performance of your home’s exterior “envelope,” which includes exterior walls, roofs, basement, insulation, air sealing, windows and doors. Our Envelope Analysts ensure that your home’s exterior is airtight and allows your home’s interior systems to function at peak performance.
